Dear sir,

AIR MAIDS: 18TH AUGUST 1938.

I have to report that 4 enemy planes attacked

the Railway at about 7.00 hours on the 18th instant and

dropped 8 bombs in the vicinity of hek Tan station,

causing the following damage:-

1 bomb at end of hek Tan Bridge (3-100' truss

girders and 2-60' deck girders).

Ballsst wall damaged.

Handrailing of foot bridge demolished.

5 pairs of rails and 30 sleepers damaged. A crater on embankment about 10' deep. All telegraph wires between hek Tan and

ien Taun damaged.

Repairs completed for trains to pass at

19.30 hours.

fell into river and the village nearby without

further damage to the bridge or track.
